The Mississippi State Sovereignty Commission
Surveillance of Civil Rights Organizations in Mississippi
Throughout the Civil Rights era, the Mississippi State Sovereignty Commission regularly surveilled black rights organizations across the state. These organizations included the NAACP, the Mississippi Delta Ministry, and the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party--to name a few. The documents in this exhibit highlight reports to MSSC on the meetings, activity, and strength of these organizations.
