This “Digital Snapshot” Exhibit features photographs from the Mississippi Department of Archives and History (MDAH) Mississippi State Department of Health Photograph Album, ca. 1930 Series digitized collection.
This photographic collection from the Mississippi State Department of Health highlights medical conditions across the state in the first half of the twentieth-century. The photographs capture Mississippi leaders' efforts to combat major health concerns like tuberculosis and malaria, attempts to professionalize medical practices, and support early health education through home health programs.
This program is funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities through the Mississippi Humanities Council.
