Digital Snapshots

“Digital Snapshots” is designed to provide an introduction to collections housed in the Mississippi Department of Archives and History’s (MDAH) Digital Archives. These ‘snapshots’ guide through a selection of digitized items, brief contextualizing historical essays, lesson plans, and recommended readings. The ultimate purpose of these digital exhibits is to introduce MDAH’s digitized collections and aid accessibility to these collections.

Digital Snapshot exhibits are designed by partners from the Center for Digital Humanities at the University of Southern Mississippi under the direction of MDAH staff.

An Award-Winning Project

In October 2024, “Digital Snapshots” was recognized with the Silver Award by the Southeastern Museum Conference, after entering the project into SEMC’s Technology Competition - Digital Education over $10,000 Budget Category. This annual competition recognizes “effective design, accessibility, creativity and pride in work, and recognition of institutional identity.”
