Detailed Description

From the Eudora Welty Digital Archives Photographs Collection - MDAH. Black-and-white photograph of a young Black woman holding a Young Black girl on her right hip, both looking at something to the camera's left. The woman is wearing a mid-length, patterned dress with a hole in the left arm and sun hat with a dark band, and is holding the handle of a metal bucket in the crook of her left elbow. The child is wearing a light-color patterned dress, a brimmed hat, and no shoes. She is also holding the handle of a pail in her hand. They are on a dirt path with tall grass, bushes, a tree, and a building behind them.
