Detailed Description

From the Mississippi Department of Archives and History Parchman (Mississippi State Penitentiary) Photograph Booklet (1695). Black-and-white photograph of numerous large hogs inside of a wooden structure, either standing or laying down. There are three overhead nozzles spraying water on the hogs. The structure itself is mostly open on the image’s right-hand side of the image, with an open doorway for the hogs to enter and exit. There are wall-less structures and fencing in the background.
