Detailed Description

From the Mississippi Department of Archives and History Mississippi State Penitentiary (Parchman) Photographs (PI/PEN/P37.4). Black-and-white photograph of black women in a room with a doorway in the back left of the image, and windows along two perpendicular walls. The women are wearing light-colored shirts and striped skirts. Some women are sitting and using sewing machines while there are several women standing at a table in the image’s left side, with striped cloth on the tables. There are piles of folded cloth under the table on the image’s left side.
