Detailed Description

From the Mississippi Department of Archives and History Mississippi State Penitentiary (Parchman) Photograph Collection (PI/1996.0006). Black-and-white photograph of four wooden structures. The structure on the left is slightly raised off the ground with dual chimneys with “5” written on each, and has a wraparound porch and two dogs are on the porch. In the image’s center and right side, there is a building partially obscured by the building on the left, a covered pen with the number “5” painted on the side, and another building cuff-off by the image’s edge. There is a drive and walkway in the foreground, with trees in front of the buildings that have been painted white at the bottom of their trunks.
