Detailed Description
From the Mississippi Department of Archives and History Mississippi State Penitentiary (Parchman) Photograph Collection (PI/1996.0006). Black-and-white photograph of black and white men in front of an unidentified building. There are several men on the photo’s left side wearing hats and either solid color or striped clothes; two of these men are holding rifles. In the image’s center and right hand side are two dark automobiles: a black man sits behind the wheel of the central car while two white men in hats and suits stand alongside, a white man sits in the driver seat of the other car in shirt-sleeves and hat with a tobacco pipe, while a white man in a suit is standing and leaning against the car. The building has a wrap-around porch with several chairs, and an open crawl space with pier foundation.
