Detailed Description
From the Mississippi Department of Archives and History Mississippi State Penitentiary (Parchman) Photographs (PI/PEN/P37.4). Black-and-white photograph of a single-story, brick building with "Brickyard Camp. Negro Camp Housing, Carpenters, Brick masons, Etc." written in cursive under the image. The structure has one chimney on one end, and there is a sign stating “BRICK YARD” on the central gable. The front has a covered porch with multiple wooden crates and boxes lined up underneath, as is a single chair on the left-hand side of the porch. There is a dirt courtyard In front of the building with a pile of bricks, wooden crate, and white wooden stand.
