Detailed Description

From the Mississippi Department of Archives and History Allard (Michael A.) Hurricane Katrina Photograph Collection (EA2012.004). Color photograph of storm damage to a neighborhood’s homes and vehicles. In the foreground of the photo, there is a short wrought-iron fence that is partially knocked over and covered with trash and debris, as well as a tree leaning on the left side. On the other side of the fence, there are two cars in a small front yard before a house. Both cars are heavily dented, and one car is also flipped upside down. The home behind the cars is also heavily damaged with a large window missing in the front room of the house and debris pushed up against one side. On the front door of the house, there is a large orange “X” spraypainted on with “OH” written on the left side, and then “O” written in the bottom of the “X”.
