Description
From the Mississippi Department of Archives and History's Thomas Foner Freedom Summer Papers (Z/2312). Black-and-white photograph of a group of Black and white individuals with luggage, standing outside the Council of Federated Organizations (COFO) offices at 1017 John R. Lynch Street in Jackson, Mississippi. The door is metal-framed with a transparent front material. Someone holds open the door and so images and writing on the door is reversed. There are several pieces of paper on the door, a symbol showing two hands (one light and one dark) in a hand-shake over the outline of the state of Mississippi, and numbers "7101" is above the symbol. Bulletin outside of the office partly reads "[COME?] MEET AND WELCOME BACK FREEDOM DEMOCRATIC PARTY..." and people are standing in front of the remainder of the text.
