Description

From the Mississippi Department of Archives and History Crowe (Milburn J.) Photograph Album Collection. Four black-and-white photographs. Each image is in a rounded cut-out with a simple line border and the overall page has a line border with floral decorations in the corners. The top-left is a young African American girl sitting on an upholstered chair that is covered with a floral cloth. Her body is facing the camera's left. She has a light-colored dress on that falls to her knees, light-colored stockings, and dark, laced-up boots. Her feet are dangling over the chair's side and her left arm is across her body. She is wearing dark, fingerless gloves on and her hands are resting on the chair's back that is to her right. Her dark hair is curled and falls to about shoulder height. "Bert Lewis" is written in blue above the image. The top-right is a portrait of an African American toddler sitting in an upholstered chair. Their arms are at their sides and legs dangling from the chair. They are wearing socks and a light-colored dress with dark, decorative stripes at the bottom of the skirt, cuffs, and edges of the jacket. "Willie Montgomery" is written in blue above the image. The bottom-right is a portrait of a young African American woman wearing a suit dress with a dark front and large buttons down the chest. The shirt is a lighter-color and has slight ruffles on the front. The collar is jaw-height and is decorated with folds and ruffles, as well as a light-colored bow with a small brooch. She is wearing a necklace with a large chain and round pendent, and dangling earrings. Her hair is pulled back with a center part. "Bell J. Porter" is written in blue above the image. The bottom-right photograph is a portrait of a young man wearing a dark suit. The jacket is unbuttoned, the dark vest is buttoned, and he is wearing a large, dark bow-tie. His hair is parted off-center towards his left side. "Leroy Porter" is written in blue above the image. There are stains in the top right corner of the page, as well as tearing and deterioration along the page's bottom.
