Crowe Album, Page 7; undated

Description

From the Mississippi Department of Archives and History Crowe (Milburn J.) Photograph Album Collection. Four black-and-white photographs. Each image is in a rounded cut-out with a simple line border and the overall page has a line border with floral decorations in the corners. The top-left is a young African American girl looking at the camera while standing and leaning on a book placed on the arm of an upholstered chair with her right arm. She is wearing a light-colored dress that stops at her knees, light stockings, and dark, laced-up boots. Her left leg is straight and right leg bent across the left. Her dark hair is in a curled updo style, but the page's opening obscures part of her head. "Berlin Lewis" is written in blue above the image. The top-right is a faded portrait of a baby facing the camera and wearing light-colored clothes. "T. Lewis" is written in blue above the image. The bottom-right photograph is an African American toddler looking at the camera. They are wearing light-colored clothes and has short, dark curly hair. "Bennie Lewis" is written in blue above the image. The bottom-left photograph is of an African American girl, standing and facing the camera while her hands rest on the back of an ornate chair to her left. She is wearing a dark dress with ruffles across the skirt, cuffs, and shoulders, and a light-colored, ruffled collar. She is wearing several necklaces, including pearls, and dangling earrings. She has long, dark hair that is pulled back from her face and gathered in a singular, large curl over her shoulder. "Mary A. Lewis" is written in blue above the image. There are pencil scribbles across the page and photographs, which partially obscures the top right photograph. There is a stain in the top left corner of the page and deterioration along the bottom edge.
