Description
From the Mississippi Department of Archives and History Crowe (Milburn J.) Photograph Album Collection. A black-and-white portrait of an African American woman. The photograph has a simple line border with a floral pattern in the corners. She is wearing a three-fourth sleeve, dark dress with a high collar and small buttons down the front of the jacket, which has ruffles at the bottom and the skirt also has several tiers of ruffles. She has a kerchief tied around her neck and is wearing a necklace with a large pendant. Her hair is parted in the middle and pulled up into a bun-style. She is standing with her body and head turned towards the camera's right, her left forearm rests on the back of an ornate chair with her hand open and palm face-down. Her right arm is by her side, and she is holding a fan in her right hand. There is a lace curtain draped on the chair she is touching and there is an ornate wooden chair behind her facing away from her. "A.A. McCalloway" is written in blue above the photograph. There is some water damage and tearing along the page's edges with deterioration mostly on the bottom right corner.
