Crowe Album, Page 12; undated
Description
From the Mississippi Department of Archives and History Crowe (Milburn J.) Photograph Album Collection. Four black-and-white photographs, all except the bottom left are placed on the page rather than in the opening. Each image is in a rounded cut-out with a simple line border and the overall page has a line border with floral decorations in the corners. The top-left is a portrait of a woman with her body and head facing the camera. She is wearing a dark dress with a lace front bib that falls to mid-chest. She is wearing a dark choker with a large pendant, and large dangling earrings. Her hair is pulled up, with a braid wrapped across the top, and it is tucked into hair-netting that has a large pendant in the center. The bottom of the photograph is torn off. The top-right is a portrait of an African American man in a light-colored suit. The jacket is unbuttoned, and the vest is buttoned, with a light-colored bow-tie. His body is pointed towards the camera, but his head is turned to look to the camera's left. He has a short, dark beard only on his chin, and his hair is also short and dark, with a part on his left side. "M. R. Montgomery" is written in blue above the image. The bottom-right is a young woman with her body pointing towards the camera and her head turned to face the camera's left. She is leaning on an upholstered stool decorated with fringe and crossing her arms while holding a fan in her right hand. She is wearing a dark dress with light-colored trims at the collar. The cuffs are ruffled and fan out. She has a light-colored shirt under the dress with a high collar that is pinned by a small brooch. She is wearing a necklace with a large pendant at the end that falls to mid-chest and dangling earrings. Her dark hair has a center-part and is pulled into a high bun. There is a table behind her with an unidentified object on it. The top-left corner of the photo is torn off with a piece of paper showing from behind with text that partially reads "Wil". "G. Boyd" is written in blue above the image. The bottom-right opening is missing an image and the paper behind is dark. There are several stains, tears, and deterioration at the bottom of the page.
